I just updated our board software. That -should- hopefully help stem the flood of bots we've been experiencing lately.

I hope.

The 3.0.8 is supposed to use a different captcha protocol for registration of users, which is supposed to be pretty effective. We'll see.

Those bots are really annoying. I do not, in fact, want to watch "Save the last dance 2," in high definition, nor am I interested in russian teen brides, nor am I interested in downloading amateur videos, no matter how 'barely legal' they are, and no, I am not interested in buying meds online. Good heavens. Those spam-bots are vile.

Anyway, if that doesn't work, I'll try something else later to fix it. Back to school stuff.

The bots seem to be finding the site tasty these days. Can you set it so anyone can approve new members? Or a personal captcha--"What is the first word on this page" or something, to be included in their admittance application?

Been doing some reading. I installed a captcha thing, (part of the 3.0.8), but it's not working too well. Turns out the captchas are fairly easily broken. I need to take some other measures, but haven't had time to take the next step on it.

If you can find some better methods of bot-protection, let me know. I am working on it, in the meanwhile.

I just installed a more "advanced" captcha, that has a better reputation. Hopefully this will stop the bots.
